Spain is the second preferred destination for Europeans to travel in 2023, behind the United Kingdom and ahead of the US, which complete the 'top 3', according to a ranking of the report 'Travel Sector Trends 2023' of theEconomic Institute of Mastercard.
In addition, Italy and Germany occupy the fourth and fifth positions in this classification, respectively. They are followed by France, Switzerland, Sweden, the Netherlands and Denmark.
Natalia Lechmanova, Senior Economist at Mastercard Economic Institute, said: "Europe remains one of the world's top destinations for travellers from around the world. "After a strong recovery last year, the desire to travel will drive European growth again in 2023."
On the other hand, the study notes that leisure and business travel globally grow at the same pace in 2023, with the opening of new corridors as tourists recover their pre-pandemic income.
Germany and Spain are increasingly popular with Latin American tourists, while Saudi Arabia and Egypt have become popular destinations for travelers from Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa, according to the report.
